The unit for pastoral development is now seeking a thematic officer for culture.

Our operations

The department for church life is tasked with developing and coordinating the work of parishes, dioceses, and the national level with the fundamental task of promoting a rich and diverse cultural life as well as official relations with other churches, denominations, and religious organizations. The department's mission includes developing and coordinating the Church of Sweden's work with cultural issues, community contacts, advocacy work, and representation. The mission also includes promoting research, theological reflection, and providing knowledge-based materials for analysis and decision-making.

The position is located in the unit for pastoral development. The unit's mission includes developing and coordinating the Church of Sweden's music and culture, pedagogical development work, the Church of Sweden's liturgical books, diaconia, and pastoral care.

Job responsibilities

The work relates to the national level's overarching mission and responsibility to support the dioceses and collectively represent the Church of Sweden in dialogue with relevant authorities and organizations nationally. An important part of the work is collaboration with other departments within the organization as well as with the dioceses. As an officer for cultural issues, you contribute your expertise and experience to a lively reflection on cultural issues as well as theological and pedagogical questions.

The position as an officer for culture includes a breadth of tasks: coordinating, representing, preparing, and processing matters, writing texts and processing others' texts, developing and maintaining contacts within and outside the church, working with communication and advocacy. The tasks are varied and involve both operational handling and long-term strategic planning. The work is carried out both independently and in close collaboration internally and externally.

Work on weekends and evenings may occur.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with broad and solid experience in cultural issues within the Church of Sweden and Sweden. You have an academic degree in a relevant field. You have the ability to represent the Church of Sweden in various contexts. You have good knowledge of the Church of Sweden's operations and see connections between culture, theology, and pedagogy. You have strong analytical skills, can work with extensive and varied material, and express yourself well in speech and writing. You have good communication skills and are flexible. You have good collaboration skills and can also work independently. You have good administrative, structuring, and organizing abilities. You are proficient in English, both spoken and written. We believe you are attentive and able to develop ideas to create concrete results together with others.
